Eskom ready to mitigate load shedding during elections
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
Eskom said it has measures in place to ensure that next month's elections run smoothly in case load-shedding is implemented.
South Africans have enjoyed uninterrupted power supply for over a month, with Eskom attributing this improved generating capacity.
The utility’s chief executive officer Dan Morokane gave an update on the state of the grid going into the winter months, saying Eskom hopes to cap loadshedding at stage two during this period.
Eskom's head of distribution Monde Bala said the groundwork has been done to ensure readiness for the elections.
“We have put our local structures in place, and we are working with them both at national and provincial level. We have signed an MOU with the IEC to make sure that we do our bit.”
Bala said there were sites at all the voting stations that would offer the necessary assistance during elections.
