Nehawu to picket at Sars offices
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Nehawu will continue with its planned lunchtime pickets at South African Revenue Services (Sars) branches on Monday.
The pickets come amid the planned national strike by the union from Wednesday.
Spokesperson Lwazi Nkolozi says the Monday and Tuesday pickets have been scheduled at lunchtime.
“As Nehawu we are moving ahead with our pIckets which are planned for today and tomorrow. We had announced that we will be embarking on a picket in preparation for a full blown strike which will commence on the 25 May.
“Most lunch hour pickets are going to continue and are starting today and we are going to be picketing across the country in the build up to the full blown strike.”

Nkolozi says the union has been left with no choice but to head to the streets after Sars offered workers a 0% increase.
Workers are demanding a 12% increment.
“As Nehawu we had placed our demands to Sars for a salary increment of CPI of 5% plus 7% which is equivalent for a 12% across board increment and Sars had made 0% of our members. It’s precisely on that basis that we then declared a dispute.”
Sars says it is simply not affordable to grant unions CPI + 7%.
