Popular South African actors queue outside liquor store in Johannesburg
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Remember when liquor sales were banned in 2020? It feels like a lifetime ago...
South Africans were super excited that liquor sales resumed on 1 June, but for home consumption only.
They were so excited that they spent hours outside liquor stores waiting for the doors to open.
Two South African actors, Francois Jacobs and Altus Theart, and their friend Nico Swarts spent a morning outside a liquor store at Brightwater Commons.
The three ‘masketeers’ arrived at 05:30 and purchased brandy and beer for the first time in two months.

The friends made a plan by being armed with masks, sanitiser, camping chairs, and a crackling fire as winter approached in Johannesburg with temperatures dropping to 6°C.
Jacobs chatted to Breakfast with Martin Bester about their early morning and assured the Breakfast team they are being safe.
