To celebrate Father’s Day this year, Breakfast with Martin Bester put together South Africa's first-ever dad band.
After a long selection period, the team finally selected the four dads that would form part of 'The Dadness'.

'The Dadness' made their official performance debut on Friday, 14 June, when they performed on Breakfast with Martin Bester's Friday Live.

Finally, after weeks of hard work, the Dad Band has officially dropped their first music video for their rendition of Starship's 'We Built This City'.

The journey
Jacaranda FM listeners got the opportunity to post a video of their dad showing off his dance moves, singing… or both, and tag Breakfast with Martin Bester.
Our team then selected the eight finalists with the best entries, after which the public voted for their favourite, helping us decide who would make the cut.

Finally, Breakfast with Martin Bester selected four dads - Theo Swanepoel, Michael Varalla, Philip James Thomas, and Raymond Ray - to join South Africa's first-ever Dad Band.
After revealing the winners and selecting a name for our Dad Band, our dads dusted off their dancing shoes and warmed up their voices as they performed on Friday Live on 14 June 2024 in celebration of Father's Day.
