Former students help teacher whose car was torched

After allegedly reprimanding a Grade 10 student, a teacher's car was set alight in the school parking lot by the student.
Former Northbury Park Secondary School pupils in KwaZulu-Natal have come together to raise funds for a teacher whose car was torched.
After reprimanding a Grade 10 student for being on his phone, the deputy principal's car was allegedly set alight by the student.

Reportedly, the student, who remains unknown, was caught with his phone, which is against school policy.
According to The Witness, members of the fundraising group confirmed that they want to help the teacher because of the positive impact she has had on many students' lives.

“The money that is collected will go towards the teacher’s car repairs. If she has insurance, she can use the money to pay the excess fee. We know that there is nothing much we can do for her, but we just want to show her she has our support for everything she is going through," said Kwanele Khumalo, a member of the fundraising group.
