Good Morning Angels: Helping a young boy and his family fight cancer
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
The Good Morning Angels Festive Edition 2022 with Roman's Pizza continues. On Monday, the Angels came together to help 15-year-old Francois Conradie and his family to fight cancer.
BACKGROUND: Francois Conradie, 15, has been fighting for his life since he was diagnosed with cancer on 13 July this year.
Non-Hodgkin's B-Cell Lymphoma is a very aggressive cancer and has spread to his lungs, right shoulder, left hip, kidneys, liver, and other glands. It all happened very quickly. He developed pain in his hip and shoulder in May 2022. The pain persisted despite physiotherapy, with X-rays in early June showing no abnormalities.
Then followed four visits to a chiropractor, but the pain worsened and Francois's parents took him to an orthopaedic surgeon who sent him for an MRI scan. The diagnosis was shared with them the next day.

Since the diagnosis, Francois has spent 75 days in hospital for operations, chemotherapy, infections, and low blood counts.
The expenses are piling up even though Francois is receiving his chemotherapy in the State Hospital. Francois is halfway through his chemo, which will continue until April next year. His High School and Primary School communities have rallied around the Conradie family, to assist and also reached out to Good Morning Angels.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Hi Angels Team,
I'm a passionate teacher who would like to come and ask if we can assist this boy and his family with any financial assistance.
Francois was in our Primary School and Currently attending High School. At this point in time, his Chemo treatments make it difficult. He can't attend school as he spends 20 days in hospital per month.
He is currently getting treatment at Steve Biko hospital as his parents aren't financially stable and struggling financially. He dad was always of assistance within the community helping students and providing study material to help students study.
At this point, it's not going well with the family. Our School Laerskool Rooihuiskraal started fundraising as well as H/S Zwartkop to support the family.
Would it be possible to help assist this family in need?
I always listen to you guys in the morning driving the school bus to school and thought to seek more help.
Kind regards,
Deon Lubbe
