This Women’s Month, Spar and Good Morning Angels join hands to support the power of South Africa’s women
BACKGROUND: This Women’s Month, Spar North Region joins hands with Good Morning Angels to benefit women. The special Spar August in-store promotion gives shoppers in all 160 Spar stores in the northern region, the opportunity to add R1 to their shopping, with all funds going to Good Morning Angels, to benefit women and women’s issues.
These funds will be used to promote and support individuals and organisations focused on the success of women in South Africa, giving girls and women the platform to blossom to their full potential - despite adversity.
The first beneficiary of this Women’s Month collaboration is the Masai AC Athletics Club, based in Soweto and co-founded last year and funded by the most powerful women in athletics today, Caster Semenya and her wife and fellow athlete, Violet Raseboya. The club already has 30 members and, although still very young, are achieving amazing results.
Besides having won two Olympic gold medals, three gold medals at the World Championships in 2009, 2011 and 2017, as well as a bronze in 2017, double gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and five gold medals at the African Championships, Caster Mokgadi Semenya also obtained her Diploma in Sports Science at the North-West University in Potch earlier this year.
She was named one of Time’s most influential people of 2019, but she remains a homegirl, who puts her family and her country first.
REQUEST FOR: The Masai AC Athletics Club
ANGEL: Retha Ingenbleeck from Spar North Region and Good Morning Angels Fund NPC
SPONSORING: The first R100 000,00 collected through Spar’s Women’s Month in-store promotion for Good Morning Angels, will go towards supporting the Masai Athletics club, to invest in the future athletes of South Africa.
