The national minimum wage has increased from R21,69 to R23,19 as of 1 March 2022. So, if one works 160 hours a month, they should be paid R3,710 for the month.
Despite this being the absolute minimum workers should be paid, data published by cleaning service SweepSouth in 2021 showed a dramatic decrease in earnings for workers due to the pandemic.

According to the same data, a shocking one in five workers is actually paid less than R1,500.
