Joburg could be 3 degrees hotter by 2050

Rising carbon emissions could lead to hotter weather and possible health risks from breathing the air.
Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni will see temperatures rise by at least 3°C by the year 2050.
According to Business Insider, the effects of rising temperatures will be felt especially in areas with tightly packed buildings and little vegetation.

The rising temperatures are due to the rise of carbon emissions in the city, which could also lead to additional health risks for citizens.
Reports claim that breathing itself will become more difficult while also being dangerous as emissions rise.

New findings published in the Urban Climate Journal found that emissions will peak in 2040, while temperatures will keep rising throughout the 21st century.
