Martin Bester pays tribute to music legend Johnny Clegg

One of South Africa’s most celebrated musicians has passed away at the age of 66.
Over many decades Johnny Clegg has crept into the hearts of South Africans and fans all around the world.
Clegg was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2015.
‘We’ve had many great moments on the radio. I remember we surprised him with his son, Jesse (Clegg). Jesse was in New York and we got him on the line and he sang one of his dad’s songs. Johnny became very emotional. He’s an incredible soul and a family man. My condolences. RIP, Johnny Clegg.’
