From Matric to PhDs: Here are our cabinet's qualifications

The entire South Africa has been buzzing since Cyril Ramaphosa announced the country's new Government of National Unity cabinet.
Many have shared their opinions and concerns following the announcement of South Africa's now larger cabinet, which includes ministers from various parties, including the ANC, DA, FF Plus, GOOD, PAC, IFP, and Patriotic Alliance.

A huge topic surrounding the new cabinet, and many cabinets before, is the qualifications of the ministers.
According to BusinessTech, 26 of the current ministers have some sort of higher education.
Agriculture's John Steenhuisen, Public Works and Infrastructure's Dean Macpherson, and Sports, Arts and Culture's Gayton Mckenzie each only have a Matriculation Qualification.
Many ministers, such as Health's Aaron Motsoeledi, Home Affairs' Leon Schreiber and Correctional Services’s Pieter Groenewald, have PhDs.

Probably the most impressive is Higher Education's Dr. Nobuhle Nkabane, who has 11 postgraduate qualifications. She is also currently busy with a Master of Science in International Business Administration at the University of London, reports Business Tech.
Of course, a minister's educational background does not necessarily dictate how well they will do their job, as experience in the public or private sector can be a valuable asset to the role.
