“My insides feel numb.” – Karlien van Jaarsveld’s daughter back in hospital

A few months ago, Karlien van Jaarsveld explained to Breakfast with Martin Bester that her daughter has a rare condition. 

Fast forward to January 2021 and the van Jaarsveld family is back in hospital.

Van Jaarsveld shared several Instagram posts on Sunday describing what the family went through in the last few hours. 

“Elah went to school for the first time and unfortunately something that is just a stomach virus for a normal child can endanger Elah's life. If she gets a fever because of whatever is in the air, chances are she will start vomiting blood. I went to pick her up after her 10th school day in her life.” 

“She just stares straight ahead of her, and tears run down her cheeks without a word or sound coming out of her mouth. My insides feel numb. 

“We are still walking the path. Day by day. They would like to have another operation to insert a shunt that can 'bypass' the blood clot.”

Van Jaarsveld further mentioned that her heart goes out to all parents who have to experience something similar with their child.

“To all the moms and dads who go through this type of thing. My heart is broken for you. May we see Him as He wants us to see Him, for He does not come as we expect Him to.”

We wish Elah a speedy recovery.
