OUTA’s Wayne Duvenage has good news for motorists!
In a notice issued to South African motorists via its website, the South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) says that new licence discs can be withheld from vehicle owners and drivers until they settle their e-toll bill.
SANRAL is a South African parastatal responsible for the management, maintenance, and development of South Africa's proclaimed national road network, which includes many national and some provincial and regional route segments.

The non-payment of toll fees may result in road users not being issued with their vehicle license disc, upon renewal of their vehicle license.
Road users will be able to renew their licenses, but the disc itself will be withheld until the outstanding toll related infringements have been settled.

OUTA’s Wayne Duvenage has good news for motorists saying, “ OUTA would like to point out that this is incorrect. It is a matter we are challenging in court.”
#SANRAL's claim that car licenses will be withheld if you have unpaid #etolls, is #fakenews. #OUTA's @wayneduv explains in this short video: pic.twitter.com/snKN5kt0mb

Under current regulations outstanding #etolls is not an infringement + car licenses can NOT be withheld. Government aims to change this through the introduction of the new #AARTO amendments, which #OUTA believes are unconstitutional. OUTA is currently challenging new AARTO.
