From papsak to posh – Are you drinking boxed wine?

One of South Africa’s major retailers has just just launched a range of premium local wines – in boxes.

Boxed wine can last up to eight weeks after opening, and will last even longer if refrigerated.
An open bottle of wine lasts about a week tops before it goes sour. According to studies, boxed wine is better for the environment.
It’s best to consume a boxed wine within six to eight months if you want it to taste good and enjoy all the flavours.

Wine can be rather expensive, but there are many ways to cut costs when it comes to enjoying a good glass of your favourite dop. However, there tends to be a stigma attached to boxed wine.
Not anymore! One of South Africa’s major retailers, Woolworths, has just launched a range of premium local wines – in boxes.
The boxes are branded with the respective estates; some of the biggest wine farms in Stellenbosch. The wine in the box is the same as in the branded bottles.
