Parents shocked by viral Grade 1 stationery list
It’s that time of year again when parents have to spend all their money on school supplies.
Along with the start of a new year comes a lot of hope, optimism, and positive resolutions for the future.
Some seek to be more financially savvy; others want to focus on their health, and some just want to try and be a better person.
For most parents, any financial hopes and dreams are quickly shattered when they realise they have to spend whatever little money is left after the holidays on the dreaded school supplies.

One TikTok user, Mrsb255official, took to the platform to share a video of a Grade 1 stationery list.
The video quickly went viral, with many TikTok users responding to the shocking sight.

Not only is the list two pages long, but the video also reveals the total amount for all the stationery, coming in at nearly R2,800.

Mrsb255official also took to the comments section to remind users that this total does not even include the school uniform for the year.
Another user commented: "Just done with it 2400 n uniform 3000."
"It's so hectic it even has a grand total," commented another.
