Since Elon Musk's takeover of the social media platform Twitter, many of its users have been looking for an alternative platform to use.

Mastodon is a six-year-old social media platform founded by German programmer Eugen Rochko.
The social media platform, named after an extinct breed of mammoth, is not controlled by a single corporation, but rather by thousands of computer servers, mostly run by volunteer administrators.
