PJ Powers shows Bokke support with 'World In Union' performance
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
South Africa singer PJ Powers joined Breakfast with Martin Bester on Friday Live to perform her song ‘World In Union’ before the Rugby World Cup final.
Just one more sleep until every South African gets to scream at the top of their lungs and witness the final clash between the Springboks and the All Blacks at the Rugby World Cup.
South Africa was left on a high after the two wins during the quarter-finals and the semi-finals, and we have not stopped celebrating.
Breakfast with Martin Bester invited South African legend Thandeka, aka PJ Powers, to perform her song, 'World In Union', on Friday Live to keep the celebration going.
Watch the performance here.
In a celebration of unity, history, and sportsmanship, Powers has also teamed up with DJ Cosher for the iconic 'World in Union' remix, which was released to inspire the Springboks and South Africans ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023.
Synonymous with Nelson Mandela's liberation after 27 years of incarceration, South Africa's reintegration into the global community, and the nation's triumphant victory in the 1995 Rugby World Cup, 'World in Union' holds a special place in the hearts of South Africans and rugby enthusiasts around the world.
As 2023 marks the Springboks' journey to defend their Rugby World Cup title in France and commemorates the 10th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's passing, the time is ripe for a new rendition of 'World in Union'.
This powerful remix, a collaboration between PJ Powers and DJ Cosher, the creator of numerous successful remixes of iconic hits, aims to reignite the same sense of unity and determination that defined Mandela's legacy and the Springboks' historic victory.
PJ Powers expressed her excitement about the project: "The original 'World in Union' embodied the strength of our nation during a crucial period in our history. With this remix, we want to channel that same energy and determination to inspire both our rugby team and every South African to come together, just as we did before. Music has the power to bring people together, and we believe this remix will serve as a rallying cry for our beloved Springboks."
