South Africa is home to an exhilarating 250km/h high-speed highway...
On the N14 between Kakamas and Pofadder in the Northern Cape, South African residents can find a stretch of road with a 250km/h speed limit.
This 120km section of the N14 has a speed limit that is more than double the national standard of 120km/h.
According to TopAuto, this stretch of highway is usually used by carmakers to test vehicles in hot weather conditions to ensure they can work in extreme heat before starting production.

This road has been specifically chosen for the testing due to the small population in the area.
Fewer people and cars mean that the road is used sparingly, which in turn means it is in relatively great condition – perfect for testing.
According to BusinessTech, it is nearly impossible to miss this stretch of road with big, yellow warning signs posted at the start and end of the road.
Car enthusiasts might be disappointed to know that only cars approved by the relevant authorities with a bright yellow sticker reading, "High-Speed Test Vehicle Approved By Government", are allowed to drive at the 250km/h speed limit.

Normal vehicles are still capped at the national standard of 120km/h.
Several well-known manufacturers, including Bugatti, Porsche, and BMW, have tested their models on this stretch of road.
