Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
How often do you visit one of these restaurant chains?
During the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it might sometimes be easier to opt to get food from your favourite chain restaurant rather than cook.
For some, it might not even be a regular thing, but a treat over the weekends.

Whatever the case, many South Africans opt for fast-food chains or restaurants monthly, weekly, and sometimes even daily.
According to a report by Eighty20, using data from the Market Research Foundation's MAPS survey, one out of every two adult South Africans – totalling 23.4 million people – purchased fast food in the past year.
Approximately 20 million of them dined at a fast food outlet in the past month, which the report states is a relatively stable figure over the past 12 months.
90% of the 20-million opted for the top 10 fast food outlets.
Here are the Top 10 food outlets from 2022 to 2024:
"Despite the number who eat out remaining stable, all outlets in the top 10 except KFC, have lost customers. Meanwhile, restaurants that gained customers according to MAPS include Pedro’s, Fish and Chip Co, Galito's and Honcho's. This suggests that people are not eating out less but are opting for more affordable options," says Andrew Fulton, Director at Eighty20.
