According to Jacaranda FM news, spiking incidents in Pretoria have risen over the past few weeks, with vehicles, including ambulances and police vehicles, driving over spikes on certain freeways.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has also stated that these incidents have increased at an alarming rate in the province.

- N4 Highway westbound between Doornpoort Toll Plaza and Brits Toll Plaza
- Mabopane Highway between Es’kia Mphahlele Drive and Ruth First Road
- N1 Highway between Carousel and Maubane Bridge
The situation is very severe. There used to be an incident once or twice a month. Currently, we have several incidents per week.
