As one of the biggest and most well-known social media companies in the world, WhatsApp is also looking to be ahead of the curve.
Often, they will announce a new feature or an improvement on an old one.
Sometimes, it might seem a bit unnecessary, but after years of tweaking and tinkering, you can post your stories on WhatsApp, take part in group video calls, send voice notes and lots more.

Before the new version is launched and widely available to the public, there are beta testers who have access to the app to test it out.
According to WABetaInfo there are four exciting changes coming to WhatsApp and some of them are quite significant.
1. AI for WhatsApp Business
At a recent global Conversations event in São Paulo, Mark Zuckerberg (Meta CEO) mentioned that the group is constantly trying to meet its user's needs.
One of their new plans is to introduce AI tools for business and is aimed at helping users find information more efficiently.

2. Larger calls
Users will be able to call larger businesses directly from the chat interface
This one-tap calling option is particularly useful for complex inquiries, such as intricate travel arrangements or opening a new bank account, where a live conversation can provide more immediate and personalised assistance. With previous updates, businesses relying on cloud providers were unable to accept calls due to the unavailability of this feature.- WABetaInfo
3. No more screenshots
You can still send screenshots in the group chat. However, to ensure more privacy, users will no longer be able to take screenshots of other's profile pictures.
This will also help reduce the risk of pictures being used to mislead others.
4. Status order update
Important contacts will appear at the top of the updates list.
The ranking system works as follows:
- Frequent contact: prioritising contacts that users interact with often.
- Pinned contact: these chats show preference or are a priority.
- Recent messaging: this indicates to immediacy and relevance of the interactions.
- Expiring status update: if a status is about to expire it is moved up the list to ensure that it is seen.
