South African sports stars are often seen as heroes of the nation.
One Springbok legend, however, proved that he is a hero on and off the field.

In a video that has been shared on social media, former Springbok fullback Percy Montgomery can be seen helping a dolphin calf that was stranded on the beach in Arniston in the Western Cape back into the water.
In the video, the 50-year-old can be seen picking up the struggling mammal and walking into the ocean before safely setting it free.
In seconds, the dolphin calf can be seen happily swimming in the water before disappearing into the deep.
The spectacular moment garnered many reactions online, with many social media users applauding the former Springbok's heroic action.

"What an excellent person you are," said one user.
Another joked, saying, "Best tackle you've ever made, brilliant."
Former Springbok wing Bryan Habana also reacted to the clip, commenting with a few clapping hand emojis while tagging Montgomery.
