The power utility says in a statement these incidents have led to power supply interruptions in recent days.

Gauteng’s Operating Unit Senior Manager for Operations Maintenance, Motlhabane Ramashi, says the theft and vandalism of the network and equipment result in inconvenience to the public.

“But also have significantly negative impact on our operations and efforts to provide the much needed service to essential service and residents,” says Ramashi.

The state-owned power utility says it is working with law enforcement agencies to contain the theft and vandalism of its infrastructure.
