998 people have lost their lives to Covid-19 in SA

The number of new Covid-19 infections in South Africa has increased by 2312, which brings the total numbers of positive cases in the country to 48 285.

Minister of Health, Zweli Mkhize revealed in a statement that 998 people have lost their lives to the virus.
“We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.
"The recoveries to date are 24 364- this translates to a recovery rate of 50,5%,” said the minister.
Mkhize also revealed 920 064 tests have been conducted of which 28 395 were done since the last report.
