Another record high for SA Covid-19 infections

New coronavirus cases recorded yet another record daily high – with more than 13 000 new infections reported in the 24 hours leading up to Thursday evening.

The daily report by Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, shows the total number of Covid-19 infections increasing to 238 339.
Gauteng contributes 34.2% of the country’s total, the Western Cape has slipped to 31,4% and the Eastern Cape makes up 18.6% of the national total.

Over 2 million tests have been conducted thus far - with 56 170 tests in just one day.
A further 129 deaths were reported on Thursday.
Covid-19 recoveries stand at 113 061, with the recovery rate now at 47.4%.
