Another sharp increase in Covid-19 infections

South Africa’s Covid-19 infections has increased by 3 495.

The country now has a total of 73 533 coronavirus cases.
A total of 1 148 933 tests have been conducted in the country.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said a further 88 coronavirus related deaths have been reported - bringing the total to 1 568.
Seventy-three of the fatalities hail from the Western Cape, 9 from the Eastern Cape, and 6 from Gauteng.
The country now has a 54,2% recovery rate, with 39 867 people who have recovered after contracting the virus.
The Western Cape remains the hardest hit province with 1 156 coronavirus-related fatalities and 44 143 cases.

The daily rate of infections went up by 4302 on Sunday. Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says in his daily statement that 57 new deaths were also reported in the 24 hours leading to Sunday evening. These latest figures show 42 deaths in the Western Cape, 10 in the Eastern Cape, and five in KwaZulu Natal.
