AngloGold Ashanti says the number of confirmed coronavirus cases
at its Mponeng mine in Merafong has risen to 164.

The mine has conducted 650 tests since Thursday.
In a statement on Sunday, the company said there are only a handful of tests left to process.
“Importantly, of the positive cases, the vast majority are asymptomatic. All positive cases will be isolated in line with national health protocols, with on-site facilities available for those who may need them.”
Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku is expected to meet with the mine’s management on Sunday afternoon.
“MEC Bandile Masuku and the Gauteng health team will meet with the mine management this afternoon to receive the report and consolidate the response and management of cases,” said the department’s Kwara Kekana.
“Additionally, the West Rand district health services will also meet with the mine officials on Monday to also enhance the response of the district and the mine collectively.”
