Covid-19 death toll breaches 12 000

The number of Covid-19 related deaths continue to steadily increase and have breached the 12 000 mark.

In the past 24 hours, there’s been an increase of 282 deaths.
The total number of Covid-19 deaths now stands at 12 264.
The Western Cape remains the province with the most recorded Covid-19 fatalities, followed by Gauteng and the Eastern Cape.

As of Tuesday, the number of Covid-19 infections stands at 592 144. with only 2 258 new cases identified.
However, only a total of 14 677 tests were conducted in the 24 hours leading to Tuesday.
The recovery rate has further increased and now stands at 82%.
