Covid-19 death toll tops 400, another 1,000 new infections

South Africa has recorded 1 208 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 21 343.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize also confirmed that another 10 people have died from the virus, bringing the national death toll to 407.
Meanwhile there have been 10 104 recoveries in the country.
The Western Cape remains the province with the highest number of infections and deaths - its 13 826 cases accounting for 65% of the country's positive cases.
Gauteng has 2 633 cases - 12% of the country's total, followed by the Eastern Cape on 2 569 cases - another 12% of total cases.

Across the continent, a total of 100,002 cases had been registered as of 1100 GMT Friday, of which 3,095 were fatal. Countries in northern Africa have the highest death tolls, led by Egypt (696 deaths from 15,003 cases) and Algeria (575 deaths from 7,728 cases).
