SA's Covid-19 recovery rate tops 70%

South Africa’s Covid-19 recovery rate topped the 70% mark on Thursday.
The latest statistics released by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize show that the number of Covid-19 recoveries had increased to 387 316, bringing the average to 72% by Thursday evening.
The total number of new coronavirus infections increased to 538 184 in the 24 hours leading up to Thursday.
This is an increase of 8 307 cases from the previous day.

Covid-19-related deaths continue to be a concern with 306 new fatalities recorded in just one day.
KwaZulu-Natal recorded the highest number of deaths, with another 78 people succumbing to complications from the virus.
Gauteng recorded 75 more deaths, while the Eastern Cape had 66, the Western Cape 46, the Free State 23 and the Northern Cape 18.
