#Covid19inSA Elderly dies in hospital ICU

A 74-year-old eman has succumbed to COVID-19, making this the second related death in the country.
This was confirmed by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize when he released a statement on Sunday night.
According to Mkhize the man was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a Private Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal.
He also had health issues, which included an “underlying” skin cancer condition.
“It is with sadness that we announce the second death of a patient who had tested positive for COVID-19. The 74-year old male had been in ICU and ventilation in a Private Hospital in Ladysmith. He had travelled to the Kruger National Park with his family and came back with flu like symptoms,” said Mkhize.
The deceased’s family, as well as 14 health workers and three specialists, who were in contact with him, are now in quarantine.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has increased to 1280, with Gauteng remaining as the epicenter with 584 cases.
