DA welcomes coronavirus measures by government

Democratic Alliance (DA) interim leader, John Steenhuisen,
has welcomed the decision by President Cyril Ramaphosa to declare a National
State of Disaster regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19).
President Ramaphosa made the announcement at the Union Buildings on Sunday night.
Among other measures to be put in place, Ramaphosa says public gatherings comprising of more than 100 people would be prohibited, while all schools are expected to be closed on Wednesday.
The president also announced that various ports of entries around the country would be closed to curb the spread of the virus.
Steenhuisen says it is important that South Africans support the government in trying to stop the virus.
"And to mitigate the harm against our people and the economy. That is why it is very important that we set out difference aside and work together," says Steenhuisen.
He has also urged citizens to familiarise themselves with the measures put in place by the government.
The total positive tests for coronavirus now stands at 61 in the country.
