Ekurhuleni MMC visits coronavirus-hit Dis-Chem store

Ekurhuleni MMC for Community Safety Frans Mmoko visited the Dis-Chem branch at Retail Park in Boksburg on Sunday.
Mmoko and a team of law enforcement and health officials visited the store after 24 staff members tested positive for Covid-19.
"We received some very worrying reports that Dis-Chem at Boksburg Retail Park has reported cases of Covid-19 and we established upon arrival that indeed 24 staff members have tested positive," says Mmoko.
The MMC met with the store’s management and discussed the possibility of closing the retail park for the next two days.
"We are not happy about what happened from day one, the number indicates that there were no tangible measures put in place,” he says.
“This is not the first case in the same area, there was one last week from one retail shop this indicates that the area is high risk. The levels of infections could rise if this matter is not attended to.”
