Prominent epidemiologist Professor Salim Abdool Karim has warned that it would be difficult for South Africa to escape the coronavirus pandemic.
Karim, who is advising the government’s response to Covid-19, gave a detailed report on the government’s plans to deal with the crisis in Durban on Monday.
South Africa has 2272 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 27 deaths.
Karim warned that if government did not act in the way in which it had, South Africa might already have experienced thousands of deaths.
