Gauteng Covid-19 recoveries surpass 100 000

Gauteng's recovery rate has risen to 62% Covid-19, more than four months after the first confirmed cases of coronavirus in South Africa.
Gauteng Health spokesperson Kwara Kekana says recoveries have now surpassed the 100 000 mark.
“The Gauteng Department of Health is deeply encouraged by the number of recoveries registered by the department.”
However, Gauteng still remains the epicentre of South Africa’s Covid-19 outbreak.

As of Wednesday night, the number of reported cases in the province stood at 168 369 with 106 614 recorded recoveries.
Gauteng currently has the second highest number of deaths in the country at 1 836.
A total of 4 804 people have also been hospitalised in the province’s hospitals as a result of Covid-19.
