Limpopo residents who are out of the province asked not to return home

Limpopo MEC for Health Phophi Ramathuba is appealing to all Limpopo residents who are currently working in urban areas like Gauteng and the Western Cape not to return home.
Ramathuba says her call is a precautionary measure to prevent the COVID-19 Coronavirus from spreading to the deep rural areas where she says it will be difficult to control.
“We are appealing to you to protect our parents by staying where you are now and reduce the number of movements - interprovincial visit is not advisable at the moment,” says Ramathuba.

This comes after three news cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the Province.
Ramathuba says the three new cases are of South African citizens from the Western Cape who traveled to several high-risk countries in Europe earlier this month.
“Upon return last week, the family of three (husband, wife, and child) decided to subject themselves to self-quarantine in a private farm lodge in Lephalale,” says Ramathuba.
Ramathuba says it would not be easy to curb the Coronavirus in rural areas
“If we don’t work hard and ensure that people stay where they are and reduce movement, we will find ourselves having so many cases, especially in the rural areas,” she says.
