Makhura warns of possible lockdown
Gauteng Premier, David Makhura says it is possible that the country is headed for a lockdown.
Makhura and Health MEC, Bandile Masuku, met with religious leaders on Friday in Parktown.
The Health Department confirmed that the number of positive cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus has increased from 116 on Thursday to 202 on Friday.
Gauteng remains the hardest hit province with 33 new cases while Free State has recorded its first seven cases.

"A lockdown may just be where we are all headed and the decision to do so has to be made by our national leadership and all of us have absolute confidence in our President. We will raise it with the President, we are watching these numbers very closely and we are worried," said Makhura.
Makhura urged the faith-based leaders to make available their churches in a situation where more facilities are required as quarantine and treatment centers.
"We must tell you, there is no vaccine, but treatment does help people to recover. But if our facilities are overrun, if the numbers are too much, we will have to have other sites,” he explained.
“I am glad that you are saying, regard our places of worship as those spaces, that count us in if we reach that level, and we pray that we don't reach there but we must be ready."
