More Covid-19 beds for Gauteng - Masuku
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku has confirmed that there are 103 beds available for Covid-19 treatment at Lenasia South Hospital.
Masuku joined hundreds of community health workers in the area on Tuesday to screen and test members of the public for the virus.
"We are happy with the setup, we started with a walkabout at the Lenasia South Hospital, where we went to see the renovated Covid wards. One hundred and three beds will be open for Covid, which gives us a better number of beds in the province."
Gauteng has more than 2000 beds available.

Masuku also promised to start releasing coronavirus statistics for the different sub-districts in the province.
"We don't release statistics for pleasure and when we release them they should be informative. So the statistics will now include sub-districts because we have already started the mass testing and we are working up our clinicians to ensure that we are able to get rapid test kits into the system.”
