Mpumalanga records 50% increase in Covid-19 deaths

Mpumalanga recorded a sudden increase of more than 50% in Covid-19 related deaths, according to the Department of Health.
This was confirmed in the daily report released by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize.
The stats, which were released on Monday evening, show that 45 more people died as a result of coronavirus in Mpumalanga, bringing the total number of deaths to 123.
However, Mpumalanga is still one of the least Covid-19 affected provinces in the country.

On Monday, the national total of deaths linked to the virus, increased to 5 377.
South Africa’s new coronavirus cases are standing at 516 862.
Gauteng remains the epicentre, followed by the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Free State, North West, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and the Northern Cape.
