Ramaphosa to address nation on Thursday

President Cyril Ramaphosa will address South Africans at 8pm on Thursday as the country battles a steep rise in Covid-19 infections and deaths.
The Presidency says the president will address the nation on developments in South Africa’s risk-adjusted strategy to manage the spread of the virus.
The address follows meetings of the Cabinet and the National Coronavirus Command Council.

It also comes amid growing calls for schools to be closed again as the country reaches its Covid-19 peak.
To date the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases is 394 948, with the total number of deaths at 5 940.
