The Democratic Alliance (DA) says it is supports the massive economic stimulus package announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa last night.
Ramaphosa announced a R500 billion relief package as part of the government's response to the Covid-19 crisis.
Interm DA leader, John Steenhuisen, has lauded Ramaphosa saying the president has done "a good job."
"If we get it implemented now and roll it out properly - all the measures announced by the president this evening, we are going to be able to save lives and livelihoods.
"The DA is absolutely adamant about this point, certainly about the last two weeks, that there is a twin threat in South Africa; one from the spread of the virus and the other from a grinding economic depression that pushes people into hunger," says Steenhuisen.

The president is set to make his second address in a week on Thursday night, when he will announce government plans for the lockdown that is scheduled to be lifted on 1 May 2020.
