Seven senior officials in Ekurhuleni test positive for Covid-19

The Ekurhuleni Metro has announced that seven of its municipal staff members have tested positive for Covid-19.
The metro said on Friday that Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina is not part of the group, having tested negative for the virus.
The senior officials who tested positive include a member of the mayoral committee, the head of department as well as the Masina’s spokesperson.

“As a precautionary measure, the office of the executive mayor will be closed for decontamination and deep cleaning. The executive mayor will be attending to all council business via virtual meeting platforms until further notice,” says spokesperson Phakamile Mbengashe.
