South Africa records record daily spike in Covid-19 deaths and new cases

The Coronavirus pandemic has claimed the lives of 192 people in a single day, making this the biggest increase recorded in South Africa within a 24-hour period.

According to the daily report released by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, Gauteng recorded 75 new deaths on Tuesday.
Limpopo has recorded its highest daily death toll, with 15 people succumbing to the virus.

As the number of new Covid-19 cases emerge, the country's recovery rate continues to slip and now stands at 47.4%.
The total number of people who have now contracted the coronavirus stands at 215 855 and the total deaths recorded are at 3 502.
