South Africa hits world's top ten for Covid-19 cases

South Africa has now made it onto the global list of top ten countries with the highest number of Covid-19 infections.
This was confirmed on woldometers.info.
In the 24 hours leading up to Sunday evening, South Afeica recorded over 12 000 new infections, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections to 276 242.
However, the country’s mortality rate remains one of the lowest in the world at less than 2%.

Cases in Gauteng continue to rise exponentially - nearing the 100 000 mark.
Gauteng now has 98 431 infections, more than 20 000 cases ahead of the Western Cape.
The Western Cape has 78 399 cases and the Eastern Cape has 50 300.
The national death toll has risen to 4 079.
South Africa's recovery rate has increased to 48.8%.
