Tshwane motorists warned of ‘spike hot-spots’ on N4
Updated | By Karabo Tebele
Motorists on the N4 have been warned to drive with caution as criminal continue to throw spikes on the highway in an attempt to hijack vehicles.
Gauteng Traffic Police spokesperson Obed Sibasa says they are keeping an eye on four hot-spots in Tshwane.
“Gauteng Traffic Police…have identified four high risk hot-spots in Tshwane where criminals placed spikes on the road. N4 Donkerhoek weighbridge, N4 Simon Vermooten, N4 where church members park go fetch water and N4 between R515 Kempton Park and Rayton bridge.”
Sibasa says the suspects should not be approached as they are armed and dangerous.
“It is alleged that heavily-armed criminal foreign nationals placed very sharp spikes on the road to rob and hijack unsuspecting motorists. They are travelling in a VW bus that is Caravan. A swift response by Gauteng Traffic Police saved a number of motorists whom would have fallen victim, by removing the spikes.”
No arrests have been made.
