President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to announce additional economic and social relief measures as the country battles the outbreak of Covid-19.
Cabinet met on Monday to thrash out plans to stave off an economic meltdown.
The South African Reserve Bank forecasts an economic contraction of 6.1% in 2020, alongside the closure of 1,600 small businesses and 370,000 lost formal-sector jobs.

All cabinet clusters were tasked to come up with a single document on Monday, outlining the key priorities of the country's plan to help cash-strapped South Africans and struggling businesses survive the coronavirus crisis.
The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa rose to 3465 on Tuesday.
The number of fatalities remained at 58.
