Zulu pleads with social grant recipients to ‘use the money wisely’

Social Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu has pleaded with social grant recipients to use the money from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) wisely.
Zulu briefed the media on the new Covid-19 social grant of R350 in Pretoria on Monday.
"I see that there is a lot of people on social media playing around with the cards and dancing. The bottom line is that these cards hold a financial resource for people to use that money sparingly and for the right reasons and the well-being of families. The money has to be taken care of because its of people who pay their taxes to make sure that our social safety net is protected," she said.
Zulu also confirmed that temporary disability grants will now be extended until October 2020 as part of the social relief package during the Covid-19 pandemic.
She called on families, who are receiving food parcels, to only take what belongs to them.
"All those who receive food parcels need to please be considerate and not take more than their share. We are struggling, people are struggling, there is nothing as painful as people who become selfish, some even sell the food parcels, this not the time for such. Please understand that our resources are limited."
