Helping a mom care for disabled son after husband dies
On top of having to care for her 14-year-old special needs son, Landi Mostert also lost her husband. Now, she's receiving much-needed help from Good Morning Angels.
Landi Mostert is a single mom to two boys. Her eldest, 14-year-old Joshua, is severely disabled and fully dependent on others.
During the day, Joshua is cared for by Landi's mother, Estelle Naudé, while his five-year-old brother attends preschool
Unfortunately, Landi’s year began with a shock when her bakkie was stolen from the parking lot at work on January 6.

The good news is that the bakkie was recovered, relatively unscathed. However, Joshua’s special needs car seat, which is also the seat for his special buggy, was not recovered.
Replacing this special chair will cost R70,000 – an amount that Landi simply cannot afford. Three years ago, Landi tragically lost her husband, Johan, in a head-on collision, and since then, she has been the sole provider for her two boys.
Without this chair, Joshua is confined to their home, as he has grown too heavy for Landi and her mom to carry.
While they've managed to raise over R40,000 towards a new chair for Joshua, they're still R30,000 short. That's why friends and family have reached out on their behalf.

My name is Basjan Venter. I would like to apply for urgent assistance for a friend in Pretoria. Her name is Landi Mostert. Her vehicle was stolen while she was at work last Monday. Her son's special needs pram was inside the vehicle. The vehicle has been recovered, but the special needs pram was not. The cost of the pram is R70,000.
Landi is a single mom. Her husband passed away three years ago, on 12 November 2021, in a head-on collision on the N4 highway. I was in the other vehicle on that day. By the grace of God, my life was spared.
I would like to ask Good Morning Angels to please help Landi. This pram is a vital necessity for Landi because it is the only means to move her 14-year-old son around.

Help Joshua get his special needs chair back
Meet Joshua, a brave young boy born with a disability that has left him bed-bound and reliant on nappies. Despite the challenges he faces, Joshua's spirit remains unbroken, and his smile lights up the room. His loving mother, Landi, does everything she can to ensure Joshua experiences the world beyond his bed. She moves him around the house and takes him outdoors so he can enjoy the fresh air and the beauty of nature.
However, tragedy struck last Monday when Landi's bakkie was stolen from her workplace. Inside the bakkie was Joshua's special needs chair, a crucial piece of equipment that allows him to be moved comfortably and safely. While the bakkie has been recovered, the special needs chair has not, leaving Joshua without the means to enjoy his usual trips outside.
The cost of a replacement special needs chair is R70,000, a sum that is beyond Landi's means. Without this chair, Joshua is currently being moved on a blow-up mattress, which is far from ideal and limits his ability to experience the world around him.
