Sandy Moodley, 80, and her 74-year-old husband are residents of Huis Beterskap in Claremont, Pretoria Gardens. The residents of this home are all SASSA pensioners who live in self-catering units.

Most of their monthly SASSA grants go towards their rent and utilities - they all have to supply and cook their own meals and other monthly necessities. They use state hospitals and clinics for medical assistance.

Sandy's husband has had two strokes and is currently receiving treatment in Kalafong Hospital.

She wrote to Good Morning Angels on behalf of the 72 residents, asking for assistance with groceries and food for the residents to enable them to enjoy a festive Christmas.

After Sandy wrote to Good Morning Angels, her husband's health took a turn, and he is currently in Kalafong Hospital after suffering two strokes.

Sandy says she is too old to help her husband to bathe and to use the bathroom, and she is very worried that she will not be able to care for him once he comes home.

REQUEST FOR: Sandy Moodley and the residents of Huis Beterskap in Pretoria Gardens

Assisting Sandy is Pule Moseamedi, Communications Manager from Housing Company Tshwane, who manages and assists six old age homes for the City of Tshwane.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:

G'day, please. I am requesting this on behalf of elderly people in an old age home, Beterskap Claremont Pretoria Garden.

We are 72 old folks in need of groceries, food, and even a Christmas lunch. Some are very sick, others have cancer. Most of them don't have food on their tables, and being old, we don't know how much more time we have on earth.
