Giving a talented young cricket player the chance of a lifetime

Using funds from the 2023 Good Morning Angels Golf Day, we assisted a young, talented cricket player named Aphiwe Yako to reach his dreams.

Aphiwe Yako played cricket for the first time when a friend in Grade 1 invited him to a game. Little did he know that this would become his passion and his passport to a better life.

Since that day, Aphiwe has played cricket, improving throughout his primary school career, to be chosen for the Gauteng under-13 B side.

In high school, he always played in the A-sides and in the first team in Grades 11 and 12.

Last year, Aphiwe joined Tuks where he now plays for the 1st team.

This year, the Tuks team won the Northerns Premier League, as well as the National Club Championship. Aphiwe was crowned the 'Young Upcoming Player of the Year' for his winning team.

His talent and hard work have not gone unnoticed.

The Titans have been keeping an eye on him for some time and they have invited Aphiwe to join the inaugural Supersport Park International Cricket Academy (SPiCA).

This training academy is geared at nurturing cricket talent on a global scale and would be a tremendous opportunity for Aphiwe to broaden and improve his holistic cricketing skills.

It does, however, come at a price... and that’s why the Titans reached out to Good Morning Angels to help them invest in the future of a deserving, young Proteas prospect.

SPONSORING: Good Morning Angels has some funds left from last year's amazing Golf Day. From all the supporters of the event and our listeners, we would like to sponsor the R180,000 needed for Aphiwe to attend the Supersport Park International Cricket Academy starting in September.

But wait, there's more! Joubert had some amazing news for Aphiwe.

Three of the academy players will be chosen to play in India after their training – and Aphiwe has already been selected as one of these players!
